0163: There was a Young Maiden...
A beautiful girl in a flowing white dress is wandering through the gardens. While clearly from the upper class, it would be equally plain to anyone who speaks to her that while she is sweet and loving, there is also something... simple about her. She is undoubtedly someone who needs to be protected as it would be remarkably easy to take advantage of her simplicity and innocence...

Hello, Rain, are you out here all alone?
[ooc: Sparrow is in for role of sensible companion
with matching nature name. Anything about Rain's cursed background I should know?]no subject
Sorry, Sparrow. I forgot. Father says young ladies can't just dash around hugging people. But I am so glad to see you.
[ooc: Rain's mind is a bit broken, just as it is normally. I figure she's the only daughter of a wealthy family who hope to marry her off to someone who won't look beyond her sweetness to realize just how simple she is - or who won't care. I suppose for the purposes of this he can be some NPC fiance unless someone shows up who wants the role. ;)]

Well, then, shake my hand. I don't think even your father could object to that. It's nice to see you too.

I'm sorry, Sparrow. I always forget. I will be an embarrasment to my fiance, won't I?
[Still, she managed a shy smile and took his hand.]
How do you do? I am pleased to see you on such a lovely day. There. That's better, isn't it?

[Sparrow was clearly about to say something.]
Maybe more acceptable. I'm not sure about better. But then, I spend too much time with my books--that's why I thought it was about time for a walk.
no subject
What? You can tell me, you know. I know I'm not... quite right, as Mummy says, but you know I can keep a secret.
[She could, too. Anything told her in confidence would stay that way forever.]
You could tell me while we walk. It is the perfect time for one.

[Rain looked at Sparrow curiously.]
What do you mean? Father and Mummy said it was all settled.
no subject
But, do you want to? You could--well, I'm not sure yet what you could do about it, but if you don't want to then you shouldn't. I would never let anyone make me marry against my will.
no subject
I... I don't know. I never thought about it. Except how much of an embarrassment I'll be to him. And... I do wonder sometimes if he'd be nice to me or mean because I'm... because I'm not quite right. The way the other girls were at school.

Run away to the circus? That's silly!
[Then she became more serious.]
But, how would I tell Father I didn't want to marry him? He barely even let me meet him. And I'm almost never allowed off of our estate, so how would I meet someone else.
Besides... I think it would make Mummy sad.

[Sparrow shrugs apologetically and laughs.]
What did he seem like, when you met him?
no subject
I was so frightened that I'd do something wrong that I could barely even look at him. He... I suppose he seemed... nice enough?
