020: Starlight and Moonlight

I'm sparkling like starlight and moonlight combined! I probably shouldn't admit just how much time I spent dancing around in one of the underground rooms in the Library with all the lights off, just so I can see how it looked!

Rain waited, too excited to stand still. Instead she danced on the roof, twirling and singing to herself without inhibition.

Iron Man was there quickly, eager to see Rain. He liked the idea of her admitting how special she was.

"Hello Rain, it's good to see you."

She spun around. "What? Who? Oh!"

"Iron man!" She flew to him, arms open wide.

Tony smiled and opened his arms wide and moved to her, eager for his hug. She looked absolutely fantastic, not just because of the lights but because of how happy she looked.

"Rain, you look gorgeous!"

She flung herself at him. "Just look at me! Aren't I all shimmery and sparkly?"

Tony spun her around and held her out at arms length.

"You always shimmer and sparkle when I look at you."

She giggled, letting her head fall back as he spun her, then tapped gently on the faceplate. "I think you need to get that cleaned!"

"Maybe the sensors are just very good," he replied, chuckling a bit as he stopped spinning her around. "But you do look especially gorgeous tonight."

Rain giggled even more. "I'm so glad you're here!" She hugged him tightly again.

Tony hugged her back, enjoying seeing her so happy and that she wanted to share it with him. Or, with Iron Man.

"I'm glad I am too. I wouldn't have missed this for the world," he admitted."

"I like how you're shining better," he told her, stepping back to take another look at her, already recording so he could give her a video. "But we'll look amazing."

"That's because I'm all mysterious like starlight and moonlight!" she said cheerfully.

"Yes you are," he told her. "It's enchanting, like a character in a magic story."

"Oh! I've always wanted to be in a magical story! Can we pretend we are?"

"Of course we can," he told her. "Do you know who you really look like right now?"

"Who?" she asked eagerly.

"The Blue Lady," he said, leaning forward to press his forehead against hers.

She laughed, but then became more serious. "You are very kind, but the Blue Lady? She doesn't sparkle. She... she walks in a, a sort of a shadow of blue. And she's not happy. She's sad, she's very very sad, because she can't help all the children, not unless they know her true name or if they're very lucky and none of the demons are watching her. But she always tries and if you call her by her true name she'll come and she'll save you."

"Well, then how about you are the Blue Lady's magical sidekick?" he asked. Tony wondered how Rain could miss the similarities between herself and the Blue Lady she talked about.

"And we'll fly over the City looking to see if there are any children in trouble?"

She giggled. "We can make a new pretend story and I can be one of the angels and help her and you can protect all of us and we can save everyone!"

"Yes! Oh, yes! Let's fly and look!"
