I'm sparkling like starlight and moonlight combined! I probably shouldn't admit just how much time I spent dancing around in one of the underground rooms in the Library with all the lights off, just so I can see how it looked!

Of course they do.

Perhaps I am only qualified to speak of the Outsider, now; and his love I am surest of. You, and I, and everyone in this whorl and every whorl are more precious to him than we can comprehend. Remember that he loves you, Rain, and try to love yourself as well.

I've always felt like an Outsider myself, so I guess maybe I can imagine someone like that caring about me

But I don't know if I can love myself... it seems... not right.

The Outsider is a very special god. I wish I could tell you everything about him-- I wish I could tell everyone-- but I don't want to bore you, or force my beliefs upon you. He does care, though, deeply; that I can say, with all the certainty of which I am capable.

Inordinate self-love is wrong, if you love yourself to the exclusion of all else... But neither should you devalue yourself. Every life is a gift; we must be thankful for our own lives, and the lives of others.

I... I would like to learn more about him. A God who loves everyone... rather than just punishes all the bad ones like me.

Even when the gods punish us-- at least, this is what we are taught in the schola-- it is out of love, in the hopes that, like children, we will learn.

If you would like to, we can meet some day and I will tell you all I can about him. He has been on my mind, greatly; to the extent that I often fear I am going to bore those around me, speaking incessantly of him. [soft laugh]

I should like to hear some stories of your whorl as well-- your Ancestors, in particular, sound fascinating.

OH, I don't mind at all, I promise! And the elders... they always said I was a good listener. That I had ears that heard and that I remembered.
