080: Apologies

Tony, I'm so sorry I didn't make it to work today. I meant to be there and then I lost track of time and then it was too late. I promise I'll make it up later.

*sigh* And now Sam has me all worried about apologizing and why I'm really doing it and... and my head hurts again.

Demonology, not... It's a fascinating subject, ain't it?

[identity profile] livingmyths.livejournal.com 2009-04-08 10:43 pm (UTC)(link)
I love old myths and legends - from any culture.

Funny, though, here it seems like a lot of them are true.

Back home I always thought a lot of them were true - like the war between demons and angels- but everyone told me I was crazy.

[identity profile] 71-chevelle.livejournal.com 2009-04-08 10:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, what one world calls myth, another calls real life. An' I doubt there's many people here that would call you crazy.

[identity profile] livingmyths.livejournal.com 2009-04-08 10:54 pm (UTC)(link)
No. Nobody does. A little broken, maybe, but not crazy.

[identity profile] 71-chevelle.livejournal.com 2009-04-08 10:55 pm (UTC)(link)
We're all a little broken, maybe that's why we're all here.

[identity profile] livingmyths.livejournal.com 2009-04-08 10:57 pm (UTC)(link)
You think so?

It would be nice to think that.

[identity profile] 71-chevelle.livejournal.com 2009-04-08 10:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Sure, makes as much sense as any other reason and it keeps us all on even ground, too.

[identity profile] livingmyths.livejournal.com 2009-04-08 11:00 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't think I've ever felt on equal ground with anyone.

[identity profile] 71-chevelle.livejournal.com 2009-04-08 11:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Well that's a damn shame. I'd wager you know just as many, if not more myths and legends than I do, 'specially workin' at the Library.

[identity profile] livingmyths.livejournal.com 2009-04-08 11:20 pm (UTC)(link)
You think so? Maybe I do.

I always listened really well whenever anyone told stories about that stuff and I read it like crazy. I like knowing about it all.

[identity profile] 71-chevelle.livejournal.com 2009-04-08 11:21 pm (UTC)(link)
It's a good thing to know. Sometimes you learn more about a people listenin' to th' stories they tell instead of any other way.

[identity profile] livingmyths.livejournal.com 2009-04-08 11:23 pm (UTC)(link)
I guess you could say I was always good at that. Listening and remembering.

I never thought of it as being something I was good at before.

[identity profile] 71-chevelle.livejournal.com 2009-04-08 11:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Listening and remembering are hard skills to learn, Miss Rain. You should be proud that you do it so well.

[identity profile] livingmyths.livejournal.com 2009-04-08 11:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Really? I guess I never thought of it that way.

I guess I thought that other people just didn't care enough to remember. Not that it was hard.

[identity profile] 71-chevelle.livejournal.com 2009-04-08 11:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Some don't. That you do, is an additional thing to be proud of. It's hard to care about people.

[identity profile] livingmyths.livejournal.com 2009-04-08 11:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh gosh, I care about pretty much everyone. Especially people who don't seem like they have anyone else who cares much about them.

That... that's something to be proud of, too?

[identity profile] 71-chevelle.livejournal.com 2009-04-08 11:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Darn straight. See? You have plenty of things to be proud of, they're just different things from some of the rest of us.

[identity profile] livingmyths.livejournal.com 2009-04-08 11:42 pm (UTC)(link)
I guess I never thought of things like that as being important.

[identity profile] 71-chevelle.livejournal.com 2009-04-08 11:44 pm (UTC)(link)
They're some of the most important things in the world.

[identity profile] livingmyths.livejournal.com 2009-04-08 11:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Gosh...

I know they're nice things, but I never thought...

[identity profile] 71-chevelle.livejournal.com 2009-04-09 12:04 am (UTC)(link)
Sometimes the problem with people is that they don't take the time ta listen to each other. They get wrapped up in their own pain and problems that they can't hear anyone else's. An' that causes arguments, fights, an all manner of misunderstandings.

People who listen, who feel - they get it. Or at least they know not to cross th' line of fire.

[identity profile] livingmyths.livejournal.com 2009-04-09 12:06 am (UTC)(link)
I think it helps that I can hear what people are thinking and what they're feeling. Even though I try hard not to.

[identity profile] livingmyths.livejournal.com 2009-04-09 12:10 am (UTC)(link)
Um... well...

Kind of?

I swear I try not to listen!

[identity profile] 71-chevelle.livejournal.com 2009-04-09 12:13 am (UTC)(link)
Don't get upset, I ain't mad or anything. Just took me by surprise.

I know plenty of people who have abilities - an' I know there are a ton more here in the City. I'd say you were in good company, all things considered.

An' sometimes people Sam can't help what they can do - but maybe it's what they do with th' information they get that's important. I don't see you ever usin' that to hurt someone, so I think we're safe.
