0141: [Accidental Video]

Rain is sitting alone near the dig site, rocking quietly and singing something under her breath. Now that the slugs are gone and the diggers dispersed there is no one to tell her what to do anymore so she's here, more than a little lost.

Reminiscence. Not entirely a human concept.

Rain didn't respond. It wasn't a direction or an order so she just continued to rock and sing softly under her breath.

Sitting there will accomplish nothing. Get off the mountain and stop mulling.

Rain tried to struggle to her feet, but the extreme physical exertion and lack of food and water had taken there toll and she fell almost as soon as she rose. She dragged herself a few feet, blisters reopening on her hands, but the pile of dirt in front of her effectively stopped any forward movement.

Menolly's been looking for more places for her friends to explore, and she just happens to be close to where Rain is. While she hasn't noticed the other girl, the little dragons have. Several of the brightly colored lizards flutter over to chirp at her, a suddenly concerned Menolly close behind.

.... Rain? What are you doing out here?

[identity profile] livingmyths.livejournal.com 2010-07-31 02:32 am (UTC)(link)
At her name Rain glanced up, but didn't respond. She did flutter her hands at the brightly colored little dragons.

Concerned, Menolly moves to crouch down in front of Rain, silently willing her little friends to be quiet and still.

Rain? Can you hear me?

[identity profile] livingmyths.livejournal.com 2010-07-31 02:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Rain stared up at Menolly, face a little concerned, and looking a great deal like a lost little girl. She was clearly exhausted - dirty, hair tangled, and looking as if she hadn't eaten in days.

Rain's a good girl. Dig? Rain 'posed to dig again?

[identity profile] sings4dragons.livejournal.com 2010-08-01 01:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Frowning a little, Menolly reached up to brush her fingers over a smudge coloring Rain's cheek. Worry had replaced concern after she'd given the other girl a once over.

I think you've done enough digging, Rain, and it looks like you've done a very good job, but you need to go clean up and rest now.

[identity profile] livingmyths.livejournal.com 2010-08-02 01:56 am (UTC)(link)
Clean up and rest.

Rain nodded.

'Kay.

She struggled to get up to her feet, barely managing as she swayed unsteadily, and waited to be directed to wherever she was supposed to go to clean up.

Without hesitation, Menolly reached out to help steady her, all the little lizards humming the unease their mistress was feeling. Wrapping an arm around Rain's waist, Menolly murmured for some of the dragons to go check and see if the library had a bed somewhere in it, mostly because she knew Rain was fond of the library and would feel safe there. As she spoke, she made sure to picture her instructions in her head for her little friends to be able to understand clearer, then started walking slowly once they disappeared.

We're taking you somewhere safe, Rain.

[identity profile] livingmyths.livejournal.com 2010-08-02 07:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Rain nodded again.

Safe. 'Kay.

The Library would be a good place. She still had a little area with a bedroll hidden down on one of the bottom floors for when she wanted to stay over and it was too cold to sleep on the roof. Barnabas would undoubtedly know where it was. And she'd be safe there. And the Library would sing to her.

[identity profile] sings4dragons.livejournal.com 2010-08-03 02:52 am (UTC)(link)
Keeping a close eye on the terrain, she made her way towards the library with Rain in tow.

Why were you digging?

[identity profile] livingmyths.livejournal.com 2010-08-04 01:17 am (UTC)(link)
'Why?' was a little beyond someone who was mostly hiding away deep inside her brain. Rain looked up, a worried expression on her face.

'Kady said dig. Everyone said dig.

Plan A: Zero in on Rain via delirium seeking ability.

Every slugged body and their brother plus sister are delirious.

Plan B: Sniff her out.

Cupcakey not-goodness stinking up the noseworks.

Plan C: ?????

[Barnabas screeched to a halt. Up until Plan C, he'd been making good time running to the rescue while coming up with ways of finding one certain missing person (in a sluggy haystack).

Just as he was about sit his backside down for a serious (Plan D) think, Barnabas heard familiar chirpy sounds coming from the distance.]

[identity profile] livingmyths.livejournal.com 2010-08-04 02:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Rain saw Barnabas and something in her remembered...

'Nabas? Good dog, good Rain.

And then a pause and more plaintively...

Library?

[identity profile] sings4dragons.livejournal.com 2010-08-08 03:32 am (UTC)(link)
Menolly couldn't help but smile a little when she saw Barnabas, and don't think the little dragons didn't flutter over to welcome him.

Yes, Rain. We're going to the library so you can get some rest.

[identity profile] livingmyths.livejournal.com 2010-08-08 04:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Rain nodded solemnly.

Rest. Library.

She even managed a tired smile as the dragons played with Barnabas.

Pretty.
