018: Unhappy

I did not like yesterday.

It was sad and scary and all the everything hurt my head.

I didn't even look at the network because it was Not Good.

I hope everyone I care about is okay and I hope today is nicer.

She could feel all of herself relax and wasn't even aware of the relieved smile that spread over her face. "Iron Man. I'm so happy to see you!"

"I"m happy to see you too," Tony said, grinning behind the mask. Sometimes he wondered if Rain was acting when she pretended Tony and Iron Man were different people or if she did see them as separate.

"Don't I get a hug?" he asked, opening his arms wide.

She ran at him and threw her arms around him tightly. "You can have as many hugs as you like!"

Tony hugged her lightly back and spun her around a bit, laughing.

"I want one at least every time we meet," he told her before setting her down.

"At least one!" she said laughing herself. "I like hugging you. You're my best friend here!"

"Good, I like getting your hugs and being hugged by you," he confessed, looking down at her. "And that makes me feel special to hear that I'm your best friend here.'

"You are," she said seriously. "I have other friends. Tony and Luke and Abby and maybe Leia, and some others, but you're my best one."

"I'm glad you have so many friends," he said back, just as seriously. "And I'm glad you consider me your best friend. You make me really happy."

She tilted her head to look up at him seriously and listen. "I do," she said almost in wonder. "I'm not used to people feeling thatway."

Tony wished there was some way that she could see him smile through the helmet, although he guessed that she could probably tell.

"Well, I'm sure a lot of people here do feel that way about you."

"Some do," she admitted. "Or seem to. And you and Tony, I know do."

She put her hands to her face. "Sorry, I always forget."

"It's alright," he said, chuckling a bit and leaning down to press his forehead to hers, the most intimate gesture he could manage at the moment.

"Are you ready to fly?"

She closed her eyes, letting herself reach out to his thoughts even as her forehead pressed against his, and wondered if she pushed hard enough if he could feel how content and happy she was. And tried.

Tony's eyes went wide for a moment as he felt something almost... tickle in his head.

"You're happy and content right now, aren't you?" he asked as he moved the shins from his armor onto Rain.

"Oh!" She bounced a bit, incredibly pleased with herself. "You heard me! Yes, I am!"
