026: Gone

Tony's gone and Luke is gone and Leia and Mr. Winchester and... It's just...

It's not fair. Finally the ancestors let me have friends and then they take them away?

I know life isn't fair and I know things happen and there's nothing you can do and you need to just stop whining and get over them, but...

This hurts.

I never had friends before and maybe now I don't want any anymore if this is what is going to happen.

I can't go back to the beautiful house Tony and my other friends made for me. Not now.

Maybe later I'll be able to look at it and remember good things, but right now it would just be too painful.

Are any of my friends still here?

Losing friends is always painful, but it's through no fault of yours that they've gone. Remember, too, that many who are here have work to accomplish yet in their own whorls; we may linger here for days and months, perhaps even for years, but it is only a respite for many, not an ultimate fate.

They would not want you to be sad, I am certain.

I know and they're probably a lot happier back in their homes with the good things and all.

And tomorrow I'll remind myself of that a lot.

But today... today I just want to be sad and miss them. They deserve one day, don't they?

They do, Rain, and you aren't wrong to deny the pain you feel; I only hope that you won't let it consume you, and that you won't turn away from the friends who remain, and those you have yet to make.

Besides, you never know; you may yet see some of them again. Occasionally people return to this place.

As painful as it is, your friends have gone back to do their duty in their worlds. The City itself is counting down, is fleeting, and so is everyone's presence here.

I find it difficult to believe, though, that none of us will remember the comrades we had here. Even if they can't recall a name, they'll know what you have done for them.

The City is a weird place, yeah. Everyone has been leaving lately, and sometimes it seems like we're all just going to pop out of existence here any day now.

Whoa, Tony's gone? Crap. I work for him. I guess I can continue my project, and maybe help oversee things for the time when he may return.
